Eating more fruit and vegetables help to fight off viruses and infections
Keeping healthy is a priority as the second wave of COVID-19 threatens to creep into Queensland. While being healthy is no guarantee you are completely safe from the Coronavirus, it will go a long way in helping your body fight off any viruses and infections that attack your immune system. If you are already rundown, not getting adequate sleep or eating properly, you are always going to be more susceptible to illness.
There are plenty of articles online telling you why you should eat more fruit and veggies every day, but knowing that and acting on it can be a little more difficult. In today’s modern society we are so used to having things fast. Fast wi-fi, fast cars, and fast food, so instead of reaching for fruit and vegetables, we tend to reach for our smartphones and order Fast Food via Uber Eats.
There is a better way and here are some easy tips to incorporate a rainbow of fruit and vegetables into your diet.

2. Keep fruits where you can see them
Wash several whole fruits and store them on the kitchen bench where you have easy access. Alternatively, you can dice them into small, bite-sized pieces, ready-to-go, and store them in sealable glass containers in the fridge. Try the same with vegetables, you can cut carrots, celery and cucumber into ready-to-eat strips.
3. Be adventurous
Try a new fruit or vegetable once a week, something that you’ve never tried before. You may be surprised and find a few favourites to add to your weekly shop. Jackfruit, custard apples, starfruit, durian, lychees, Buddha’s hand, tamarillos, breadfruit, chocolate pudding fruit, and a whole host of other lesser-known fruits can expand your tastebuds. You may not love everything you try, but we’re happy to introduce you to what’s in season. All you have to do is ask in store.
4. Juice it
Experiment with different concoctions of fruit and vegetables. Make note of the quantities and ingredients you put in the juicer, just in case you create a juice recipe you want to make again and avoid those that don’t taste so good. 5. Grazing platters

6. Introduce Meatless Monday

7. Make Vegetable Soup

Skewer bite-size pieces of fruit and drizzle with honey for a tasty healthy dessert. Freeze banana slices and blend until creamy for a replacement for ice cream or blitz avocado with cacao powder and maple syrup for a decadent chocolate mousse that sinfully rich.
